These flower cupcakes are very easy to make and can be a great last minute gift for someone. I made chocolate cupcakes, and topped them with chocolate fudge icing. For the flowers I used gerbera/sunflower cutters for the large flower, daisy cutters for the centre and then finished them off with a silver pearl ball or silver dragees as they are also known as. They are quite effective and relatively quick and easy to make.

These were the cupcakes I made and donated to a recent Macmillan Coffee Evening that I attended. The cupcakes are chocolate in flavour with a chocolate fudge frosting and finished off with an edible white, yellow or green rose. The green roses were made in traditional Macmillan colours and the white and yellow ones were made to compliment the colour scheme.

I made this cake for Elaine on her 70th birthday as it was a recreation of a cake she had been given on her 7th birthday. She chose the mint green and claret pink flowers and piping pattern and requested that the cake be madeira with a buttercream and jam filling. This is not a colour scheme I would have opted for personally but did as she had asked. she absolutely loved it!
